Just wondering if anyone can give me some names of the best Japanese Gardens to see on Oahu, HI.  My family is traveling there at the beginning of April and I need to see some Japanese Gardens.
Thanks in advance !

Aloha Healyjet,

While I am not a Japanese gardener, I am on Oahu. (I am a webmaster who helped set up this site.)

I took one of the photos on the home page of this site, http://myjapanesegarden.org/. If you watch the slide show, you will see a photo with my name, Blaine Fergerstrom, on it. That was taken at Byodo In Temple, behind Valley of the Temples cemetery in Kaneohe, Oahu.

You have to enter the cemetery and drive to the back to get to the temple. It is very beautiful. You may be asked for admission or a donation.

There are others on Oahu, but that is one of the nicest.

If I think of others, I will post information for you. I hope you enjoy your stay!

Aloha,

Thanks Blaine, Valley of the Temples is on my list.  I am sure we will enjoy our stay. After all . It's Hawaii !
Any more ideas and examples are greatly appreciated.

It has been so long since your initial question, perhaps it is time for another visit to Hawaii?!
There is a lovely garden behind the East-West Center on the campus of the University of Hawaii - Manoa. This is reachable by bus and a short walk or by car, though one will have to pay a parking fee for a car.

Hi, K. T.
Got picts?

Hey how's the healing going?  Are you back in boots again? Seriously, let me know if you want me to set up a gallery or such for Hawaii gardens.
Mahalo nui!

Don: The lace-up ankle brace fits inside rubber boots! Today we are rained out for work outside so I am inside trying to make sense out of my messy desk. Still more blog articles to write. Bill is three gardens ahead of me in processing his photos.
As for photos of public gardens on Oahu, I have Byodo-in in Kaneohe, the garden at the East-West Center, and the in-terrible-shape Kyoto Gardens at a cemetery in Honolulu.

All in time...

Thanks to you and Bill for all the lantern pics.  I was going to process them and reorganize the lantern reference in JGO but somehow the weekend disappeared!

Thanks for all!

Jando

Thanks Don, it was interesting to watch all the skilled work being done and the ceremonies.

K.T. we may have to check this one out this Christmas.  We are in the planning stages of a return trip to Hawaii this season.
