Tanabata at the Garden is a beautiful day filled with origami-making, and wish writing.

As in Japan, Tanabata at the Seattle Japanese Garden is a celebration of the legend of two separated lovers, represented by two stars which only meet once a year in July. Bring your friends and family and hang your origami on the bamboo by our gates, we'd love to see you here in your kimono!

*Please note that annual passes are not valid for admission to this event, a special admission cost applies.

The Tanabata celebration will also include Tea Ceremony in the Shoeian Tea House at 1pm and 2pm. Cost: $7, youth $5, reservations required.
