LOCATION OF PEOPLE:
« on: August 31, 2008, 03:23:31 PM »
I would like for the location of the person to be placed by their name. Example: Steve-Texas. This would help us to know the environment of the gardener and would also help us to understand their growing problems and benefit per location.

Steve, I agree that would be useful.  Unfortunately this software does not put location and name together that I know of.  I will look into it.

Then why not change "niwahshi" to the location of the person, since it is implied?

niwashi is a category.  There are permissions associated with categories that preclude its use as place of origin.  But...

Let's experiment - anyone that wishes to can go to their profile and enter their location in where it says "custom title".  It will display as mine does under my name.  How's that, Steve?

Hi, I had my location in personal text, showing it under my kanji stamp.
Now its in "custom title".... and added my name in signature.

Good idea Steve.  Ones location does help and good thinking Don it worked perfectly.  Now we can see where someone is from in an instant.  Makes life easier.  Good job guys!  Now to get us all to put our location in as a custom title is another challenge.

George,  When you go into your profile on the left there is modify profile, two down from that heading is forum profile information, click on that.  Scroll down to custom title and enter your location.

Hope this gets you there.

Cheers  June

This is a good suggestion and certainly aids in formulating my responses members.

I have extensive experience gardening and working with Japanese gardens in the Gulf Coast  The Mid Atlantic, Piedmont, New England and the Pacific Northwest regions of North America, as well as the UK (from Devon to Yorkshire) and Japan.

Knowing the location of the member may ensure greater accuracy in the delivery of information.
