Fence-building Workshops
September 27 & 28, 9am-3pm

Lunch not included—participants are encouraged to
bring a sack lunch
Conducted by Head Gardener Michael Kondo, with the
assistance of Virginia Harmon, Director of Grounds
Maintenance, this two-day workshop provides background
information on bamboo fence building as well as
hands-on practice.
Day One (9/27): Includes lecture with a review of the history
and evolution of Japanese bamboo fence styles, hands-on tool
practice, and knot-tying demonstrations.
Day Two (9/28): This workshop incorporates a fence-building
project which allows participants to practice the skills they
learned on Day One. Day One workshop or prior experience
required for participation in Day Two workshop.
Day One Only: $85.00 Members and Non-Members
Day Two & Day One: $150.00 Members and Non-Members
