Sunday April 17 Haiku Day at Seattle Japanese Garden 
The change of seasons have inspired poetry writing in Japan for centuries. Would you like some help unleashing your own inner poet? Join us for our first ever Haiku Day, co-sponsored by Haiku Northwest.

Celebrate International Haiku Writing Day at the Seattle Japanese Garden. Haiku Day features introductory writing workshops, haiku walks, installations, craft activities, readings, and more, with poetry from Haiku Northwest (in English) and the Rainier Haiku Ginsha (in Japanese and English). Please join us!

11:00 am: Craft activities open (courtyard; ongoing until 3:00 pm)
11:30 am: First workshop (Tateuchi Community Room, led by Michael Dylan Welch)
12:00 noon: Workshop walk to Azumaya (to share poems; end by 12:15 pm)
12:30 pm: Reading by Rainier Haiku Ginsha group member.
1:00 pm: Reading by Haiku Northwest members
1:30 pm: Ginko (haiku-writing walk),
2:15 pm: Second workshop (Tateuchi Community Room, led by Michael Dylan Welch)
2:45 pm: Workshop walk to Azumaya (to share poems)

Activity locations will depend on the weather.

All ages welcome! The event is FREE with garden admission: $6 adults and $4 youth 6 -17, seniors 65+, students with valid ID. Admission is free for kids age 5 and under.
