     Ueki masters will demonstrate how to trim Japanese Black Pine trees in ueki style on Sunday June 8 at the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden on the Campus of California State University, Long Beach from 9 am - noon.

     This Annual Event combines cultural and horticultural elements and is a great resource for both garden enthusiasts and experts alike. As one of the feature plants of the garden and as the basis for the garden's framework, it is important that these trees are groomed correctly. The skill of trimming Japanese Black Pines in ueki style is a unique talent and one that takes many years of practice to truly master. This event gives people the opportunity to learn from the experts as to how to better take care of plants in their own garden. There is a presentation by the Garden's Curator at 9:30 am and a narrated demonstration at approximately 10:30 am. The skill of trimming in ueki style is a rare skill to find, it is important to keep this art form alive for future generations.
   
     Admission is $10 for Adults, $8 for Seniors, $5 for Friends of the Japanese Garden members, and free for CSULB students and children 12 & under.
   
     The garden is located on Earl Warren Drive, off Beach Drive, near the Bellflower Boulevard entrance to the campus. Parking is available in lot 16 in non-metered spaces directly across the street from the garden. Purchase a $5 parking day pass at the yellow ticket dispenser in Lot 16.
