Crimson Queen:
« on: April 08, 2011, 06:14:49 PM »
Hi,

I'm wondering if a 'Crimson Queen' Japanese Maple can take filtered afternoon west sun in Texas? Also, how tall and wide do they get when mature and are they slow growers?

Thanks,
Steve

I just planted one here in North Georgia. Just about all the nurseries here have them.  I have heard they do better with some shade. Crimson queen is considered a dwarf variety so they only get upto 8-10 feet high and about 6 feet around. very slow growers. You can prune off the upward reaching branches and keep them even lower.
