Stepping Stone Paths  Tickets
Apr 29 @ 11:30 am – 3:30 pm  $115.00 - 130.00
Stepping stone paths are found in gardens in many countries around the world. In Japan, the aesthetics and concepts of stepping stone placement have been highly development. In this workshop led by Japanese gardening professional Asher Browne, we will look at many examples of stepping stones paths in Japan, explore common layouts and material usage, and discuss concepts like blending function and beauty.

Participants of this one-day course will work in teams and set their own stepping stones, applying Japanese principles and techniques. Please be advised that this hands-on work is physical, and requires squatting, digging and moving stones. Participants are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch.

Members must be logged in to their account for the discount to be applied during checkout.

About the Instructor
Asher Browne is a Japanese garden builder based in New Jersey, and has been Shofuso’s garden
consultant for the past decade. Asher started his quest to learn the techniques and principles of
Japanese gardening nearly twenty years ago. With a background in the Fine Arts, he moved to
Japan for eight years, four years of which was spent training full-time with garden companies in
Kyoto. By working with Japanese garden crews every day in some of Kyoto’s most famous
gardens, he learned the traditional techniques that have been used for centuries to build and
develop Japan’s beautiful gardens.
