Welcome to mJG Strever!!!

Where are you located?????  Redwoods remind me of home (yes, I am a California transplant).  Tried some plant some coastal redwoods the first time I got up here but their feet got too wet (don't ask how my pines are doing).

I have a vivid imagination so I would like to share.  For me, big foreboding redwoods (in the mist) lends to an air of mystique.  Kinda like in the opening fight scene of the "Last Samurai".  I look forward to you sharing your garden with all of us.

Welcome, Strever!  Nice to have a lurker surface into the daylight.  I'm sure we'll enjoy exchanging ideas with you.

Sounds like a lovely place and I definitely have Zone Envy, especially at this time of year in zone 5.  We amuse ourselves by making up Haiku about frozen pipes and duct tape.  Then we get mud in April.  We have the best July, August, September and October around, though.

Does anyone know what USDA zone Kyoto would be?  I'm pretty sure it would need one zone to classify it for winter and another for summer since it has such an odd climate.

Just for you Lee;

gentle lee slumbers
cold, entrapped expansion
spray cackling, laughing

Nice one, Michael!

OK, here's one:

February day
Ding Dongs and coffee for lunch
Duct tape by the case

...or how about this:

Thawing frozen pipes
How remote and how deep seems
Basho's icy well

OK, Lee walks away with the oscar-san!  (Kyoto's zone changes with the month. Or maybe twice per month...)
